VALERIE ALEXANDER

  • Celebrate Halloween with Dark Rainbow - an anthology of queer erotic horror

The nights are growing chill, pumpkins are crowding front porches and Spirit Halloweens are filling every strip mall. Yes, it's officially the scariest season of the year - and my personal favorite holiday. So I'm especially pleased to announce a terrifying new anthology coming your way that ticks all your favorite boxes: queer erotic horror.

That would be Dark Rainbow from Riverdale Ave Books, a collection of horror stories that feature a variety of authors across the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Just take a look at the table of contents:

Pip and Estella - Valerie Alexander

Goldilocks and her Undead Bear - Julianne Snow

Think of Me - Lindsay King-Miller

Odd Man Out - Derek Clendening

    Affliction - Spinster Eskie

    His Type - Sèphera Girón

The Life Model - Jim Towns

The God Modulation - Kimberly Gondrella

    Monday - Benjamin Johnson

The Dark Gem - Lisi Damette

The Christ of St. Jozef Church Angel - Leigh McCoy

Eye Contact - Jeff C. Stevenson

Broken Lines of Salt and Flesh - Robert E. Furey

The Grave of Lilith - Harry F. Rey

The God of Small Favours - H. P. Medina

My story "Pip and Estella" is, as you may have guessed, a lesbian and bloody take on your favorite novel from ninth grade English. I have always been somewhat obsessed with both Miss Havisham and Estella from Great Expectations and now I've presented my own Southern Gothic versions of them: Miss Havisham as a murderous retired supermodel and Estella as the femme fatale who discovers she'd rather have Pip the hot butch gardner than the rich men her mother wants her to marry.

It's out on October 18. More details to come!
